10 Years TV talent show airing in my country, how's it going so far? What's left behind the show? Money? Popularity? Farce? I just never thought that tv talent show will still continue to go on. Let's backward roll our memory's scroll to the first tv talent show, AFI (Nov 2003), Indonesian Idol (March 2004),...,...,.., until IMB, The Voice of Indonesia, and X-Factor Indonesia. The gate started open wide since 2003, then the television industry became realize that large sums of money fall in front of the eyes.
I've never watched a talent show all the way through. To me, they are the height of farce; sometimes desperate constants idiotically vying for the approval of industry jerks belching out a trite "believe in yourself and you can achieve your dreams" philosophy. Most people dream of tv talent show would bring their dream come true. Money. Living in a luxury home, with luxury car, and any luxury stuff. No one will refuse to live in the luxurious lifestyle.
It brings me to a thought I had about what is behind the popularity through media (newspaper vs television). Newspaper can make a person become famous then raise money as well, but there are big differences with television: "the amount of the money earned" and "the outreach of the news (events, etc)." Popularity is popularity however they gained. Talk about tv talent show, I think it just like a particular rubric or column in a newspaper. A rubric that was created to capture particular segment in particular moment in time. E.g woman rubric or teen rubric (a thin difference between rubric and column).
Rubrik itu memang dibuat utk memberi warna pembaca sebuah surat kabar. Targetnya, pasti harus bisa mendatangkan iklan. Sejauh apa jangkauannya (terkait sebanyak apa pembacanya) dan sebanyak apa uang bisa dihasilkan dari rubrik tsb. Jika dalam perjalanannya ternyata rubrik itu tdk mampu mendatangkan iklan sesuai yg diharapkan, rubrik pasti ditutup dan diganti rubrik lain yg lebih menarik. Trial and error. Kira-kira seperti itulah tv talent show dalam skala yang lebih sederhana. Perkara siapa saja yang akan dikenal publik selama rubrik itu ditayangkan, were not the important matter for newspaper. Ketika terpilih sesosok nama berdasarkan polling dalam rubrik yg paling beken sekalipun, apakah selepas rubrik berakhir lalu surat kabar itu akan membantu perjalanan karir org tsb? Mostly no! Kejar saja impianmu sendiri dg kerja kerasmu!
Tak heran jika banyak jebolan tv talent show yang nasibnya merana. Dikenal orang emang iya, tapi tenar banget juga enggak. Terbelit utang karena terjebak gaya hidup di Jakarta. Itu karena mereka benar2 menggantungkan mimpi dari acara yang mereka ikuti. Talent yes, but most were just about luck! So, how's the 10 years tv talent show going so far in Indo? I think not much has changed.
